Conservatory UK Archive Pages
Think about the intended use. Will be it a playroom, a dining area, an office, a second living room or a station between house and garden? It can be all of these, but your conservatory’s main day-to-day use will determine how large it needs to be, as well which style, layout and materials will work best.
Buy the best possible conservatory you can afford. For a relatively small additional sum spent now you can have a grand conservatory. Balance getting value for momey against getting something cheap and nasty. Consider glass roofs, Pilkington "K" glass (Low E) etc.
Once you’ve decided on the design and size of your new conservatory, get a second opinion from a friend or family member. You have been thinking about it continuously; get a disinterested opinion, and save putting up a 'folly'.
Allow a small contingency (say 10%) for "extras" or additions you may make to the order after you place your initial order. Builders can have unforeseen work or you may decide to make some changes as work proceeds.
