Fee-Based Search Engines.

Note: There are ways of avoiding some of these fees. I can help you with this. However, if yours is an established, profitable business it might be simpler to pay up front, and get on with it.

Yahoo.com. This directory requires a yearly payment of $299 USD just to be considered for listing; listing is not guaranteed. However, with my help it almost certainly is.

LookSmart.com. Fees vary. Currently charged with dubious business practices. Probably worth avoiding. Listing guaranteed.

Altavista.com. Fees vary. Listing guaranteed, unless your site is truly hopeless. One can still be listed for free; it just takes a bit longer.

Pay-Per-Click Search-Engines. Chief among these are Overture.com, and lately Google.com. The former provides lisings for other major engines. If you bid on search-terms customers are likely to use, it's a guaranteed way of getting them to your site. It can be expensive unless used wisely. I can help with this.

You must find your current ratio of visitors to sales, then work out how much you can spend per click.

Example: if you get 1 sale per 100 visitors to your site, how much can you spend for each visitor, and still make a fat profit? The cash should come out of that proportion of each sale you normally spend on advertising.

The internet marketing consultant considers search engine placement to be key to generating targeted traffic on the internet. Why?

1. It's easy, if you know how.

Compared to other forms of advertisement, search engine optimisation requires less work. If you know how to optimise web pages to rank well on search engines, you can quickly attract visitors that are interested in what your site has to offer.

If you have chosen the correct search-terms used by potential customers in search engine queries, you will attract people already half-way towards getting their credit card out for you.

2. It's inexpensive.

Human-moderated directories like Yahoo and LookSmart require a fee before perusing your site. These fees would not pay for a half-page ad in a local newspaper, yet listing in these directory-based search engines can bring tens, hundreds or thousands of new visitors to your site daily. (It depends on whether what you are offering is what sufficient numbers of internet users want).

If you include my fees, it's still an utter bargain. What kind of ad exposure would you get in a trade paper for $1600 USD, and how many customers would it bring you, and for how long?

My search engine placement services mean that, given the internet is running twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, people could be finding, viewing, purchasing, and having your goods despatched to them, even while you sleep.

Submission to spider-based engines like AltaVista and Google costs nothing, by the way. Just the labour.

Given that I may deduct your fees to Yahoo and LookSmart, from mine, if you don't get listed, or get a bad listing, you win either way!
